Audition female dancer for Lulu Suite/Suor Angelica

For our upcoming semi-concertante new production with an exciting BERG-PUCCINI program we are looking for a female dancer with an excellent classical and modern foundation. Our main focus will be however on alternative skills such as breakdance and hip hop. The dancer will choreograph herself, and will be working closely together with the stage director.

The evening consists of two pieces: Alban Burg’s Lulu Suite and Giacomo Puccini’s Suor Angelica. The part is a role combination of Lulu in the first piece and the ‘shadow’ of Suor Angelica in the second part.

Concerning the payment, we follow the work union agreement from the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Theatre and Dance.

Alban Berg – Lulu Suite

In this orchestral piece, (33 minutes), there is a small fragment in which a soprano sings Lied der Lulu, a song in which the main character of the opera, Lulu, expresses her thoughts about the destructive person she is. In this production the song will be conveyed in dance.

Giacomo Puccini – Suor Angelica

In the opera Suor Angelica, (55 minutes), the story revolves around a woman who is banished to a monastery because she has had an illegitimate child. After 7 years, she is visited by her aunt in the monastery who tells her that her child has died. Suor Angelica decides to go after her child into death. In this production a dancer will show the dark /hidden sides of Suor Angelica – sides that are hardly allowed to be present in the society or in the context of the cloister she lives in.
